The study area is located in Bapunagar, Ahmedabad, near the Malek Saban Lake, predominantly inhabited by Hindu and Muslim populations. This community has previously endured severe consequences from communal riots, making the need for healing and unity crucial. The project aims to identify critical issues and explore opportunities for developing a Master Plan through collaborative efforts in a group of three, followed by individual designs for institutional projects based on thorough analysis.
The Master Plan envisions several key elements, including establishing a seamless connection to the lake to enhance access to nature, creating inclusive community spaces that foster interaction and dialogue among residents, improving the transportation infrastructure to facilitate better connectivity, and developing versatile public areas that encourage community engagement and recreation. The overarching goal of this initiative is to heal the wounded community by providing secular open spaces that promote unity and coexistence among diverse groups. By addressing these elements, the Master Plan seeks to transform Bapunagar into a harmonious and thriving environment for all its residents.
